STORY: Mille Lacs Crossing Results

Due to extremely cold weather on Saturday (8 degree windchill), the Mille Lacs Crossing 2000 was held on Sunday, October 8, 2000. Despite the continued cold and light winds, the race was started under sunny skies. Of the original 65 registrants, 38 started the race with 21 finishing. Unlike last year's sudden wind increase that over powered many out of the race, this year the low number of finishers was due to lighter winds that were not quite enough for many of the small boards. But gear is king and the winds weren't too light for Kevin Gratton's 11.0 meter sail, he won the race in just over an hour. All in all, again a successful race and many thanks to Mike Fox for organizing "Minnesota's Ultimate Challenge."
